Monetize your Interests (Everyone should make content).

If you know me personally, I’ve probably recommended that you start making content.
Some of the most common comments I get are:

"That's not for me"

"I’m not that type of person"

"I like my privacy"

"That wave is over/ oversaturated"

and what I’ll usually reply is what I’m going to share today.

you don’t have to want to be famous to post content
you don’t even need to show your face or say your own name.

there are plenty of examples of people who have made faceless youtube accounts or instagram accounts and leveraged the digital marketplace to their advantage.

Thats the thing though, everyone has an advantage.

The information that you use on a day-to-day basis or the niche hobby you picked up from your grandparents can be your advantage.

There are sooo many people in the world and the internet is just a tool that can connect you with those people without physical borders or language barriers.

QUICK EXAMPLE:
**One thing that I picked up recently during the Paul v. Tyson fight that I keep referring back to in conversations with friends and family is how big the world is and how many people 8B+ actually is.

The first fight of the night featured another Youtuber-turned-boxer, Whindersson Nunes.

not only had I never heard of him, but I was shocked at how big of a celebrity he was in his home country of Brazil. **

To put it into perspective:

Jake Paul - who is a massive celebrity in his own right, has ~28M followers on IG.
this guy Whindersson Nunes, who had NEVER even blipped on my radar has ~59M followers on IG!

This absolutely blew me away and reaffirmed my advice to my friends and family who have unique insight, skills and experiences to start making content.

“THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN.”

I refer to this quote often because its something that holds artists and creatives back tremendously. myself included. The need to be innovative or revolutionary has driven some of the greatest modern artists to both failure and success but in retrospect, it wasn't the art that was innovative or revolutionary, it was the spirit and passion they put into it that resonated with the public.

Just put your thoughts and your art out into the world and with proper persistence and dedication, they will reach the right people.
That is what the evil algorithms are designed to do.
if all you use social media for is vapid entertainment and memes then that’s what you’ll get from it.
and by all means, we all love a good meme but..

if you aim your focus toward growth and learning, you’ll find a whole other corner of the web that involves fitness, health and wellness, business tips etc.

Obviously you need to vet what you’re consuming regardless but the point is that there is an audience out there that will resonate with what you have to say.

There is a spectrum of learners out there who might be just a few steps behind you in your journey and could benefit from what you have to offer.
so many people think they have to have a certain level of expertise or credibility in a field before putting out information and content about it but that thought process is washed up and part of the institutions of the old.

in today's society, a complete beginner can pick up a difficult skill in a fraction of the time it once took via the internet.

if you have solved a problem in your life (i.e. building a fortified chicken coop to prevent foxes from entering, weight loss/fitness goals) you have something to offer the world by way of the internet.

It might take time and might come in waves, but if the end goal is to get paid for what you love to do, there is a community out there that will support you as long as you keep making progress and improving.

“YOU DON’T NEED TO REINVENT THE WHEEL”

Only the Willing started as a brand along side the music I make and it stands for what I represent.
I won’t stand on a high horse and say that its a completely original idea to have a brand as a rapper.

I come from the era where rappers like Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa were making independent waves by creating a lifestyle brand that represents what they do and who they are with Jetlife and Taylor Gang. these are the practitioners that inspired me to follow in their footsteps

STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS”

Whatever it is that you find to be your advantage (crocheting, bocci ball, lizard breeding etc.) you can use that as a spring board to start making content and monetizing your interests.

Content doesn’t have to be silly dances and make up tutorials.

you don’t need to be the next Beyonce, but if you can create an ecosystem that creates $1-5k/month, you can start freeing up your time to pursue other ideas and expand on your creativity or just enjoy more time with your family and go on nicer vacations.

Obviously, it’s not easy and not everyone will make numbers like that and some will make more and some will take longer to get to that point, but the blueprint has already been laid and the people are out there.
